Do you know that baking and decorating your own Mickey cupcakes can be one of the greatest ideas that can add a unique sparkle to your child's Mickey Mouse themed party? Yes, it definitely can!

Cupcakes are definitely fast becoming one of the hottest trends in birthday parties. And the reason for this is quite simple - they are relatively easier to make and decorate as compared to traditional birthday cakes, and are a lot easier on the budget, too. No wonder a lot of parents are making the switch!

Just how easy is it to prepare your own Mickey cupcakes? Well, all you have to do is buy a box or two of cupcake mix and follow the cooking instructions to come up with a batch of freshly baked cupcakes. Or if you're a little pressed for time, you can always order a dozen or two from your favorite bakery. It really depends on your choice. Either one will surely work out fine.

When you have your cupcakes ready, you can start decorating them by putting on some cake frosting. You can use simple vanilla, chocolate or peanut butter frosting depending on the design you want and your personal preference. You can find a lot of frosting recipes by doing a simple online search.

Or if you want, you can also use fondant to decorate your cupcakes. Fondant is a great time saver because you can prepare it or purchase it well ahead of time. It also keeps well and makes for a spectacular cupcake decoration. Now, if you want to please your older guests, you can also have some with cream cheese frosting. The possibilities are quite endless!

To decorate your cupcakes, you can put topper rings which can also double as party favors, or you can use edible toppers and candy confetti sprinkles. You can also use small round cookies or use colored vanilla frosting to make a Mickey Mouse silhouette on top of your cupcakes. You'll only need one large circle for the face and two smaller ones for the ears, and you'll instantly have the perfect Mickey Mouse silhouette! Or how about sticking two chocolate cookies on top of your chocolate cupcakes so that the whole thing looks like Mickey? This sounds good, too.

Now that you've finished decorating them, you can showcase your creativity by displaying and serving these adorable and yummy masterpieces on a platter, an eye-catching cake stand, a multi-tiered cake stand, or a specially designed cupcake stand.

Having Mickey cupcakes in your kid's birthday party will surely be a hit with the kids and the adults as well. So, why not try this great idea for your child's next party? Everyone will surely love it!

5 Decorated Cupcake Ideas for Girls

Cupcakes are really flexible and you don't need a special occasion to make them. Recently, I've been more inspired than usual so I decided to try quite a few decorated cupcake ideas. I must say, they turned out pretty great! They're perfect for mums who want to surprise her kids with extra-specials treats in an ordinary day. You can make the cupcakes themselves in advance and the decorations can be put in place a couple of hours before you serve them.

Here are few decorated cupcake ideas you may want to try for yourself:

Fruit - Fresh fruit have been used to decorate cakes before, but you can also do the same to cupcakes. Pick your child's favorite fruit. Berries and even mangoes are a great choice, but whatever's in season will also work. To balance the taste, prepare your buttercream icing with cream cheese; smooth out a thick dollop with a spatula on top of the cupcake. Simply position your fruit choices on top of the icing so that it won't fall off.

Gummy Drops - You don't have to make everything from scratch when you are decorating your cupcakes. If you don't want to use too much icing but would still like to make it pop, you can use gummy drops instead. There's an assortment of designs and flavors to choose from. Don't forget to put a thin layer of buttercream icing at the bottom to hold them in place.

Glamorous Stars - Little girls need to feel like stars sometimes, and a star-designed personal cupcake may just do the job. Bake her favorite flavor using a foil liner. With a 1M decorating bag tip, pipe an icing swirl on top using buttercream icing in her favorite color. Sprinkle it with dark silver stars and 2mm cachous.

Cookie Flowers - Flowers are very basic among decorated cupcake ideas, but you may not want to use sugar flowers. Women and girls alike would enjoy a flower made from cookies. Just roll out a premade cookie dough and cut flower petals using a flower-shaped cookie cutter. After you've baked it well, outline and fill the top of the cookies using a thinned color flow icing. This would take hours to dry so you should make this a day in advance. Brush the surface with some pearl dust to make it shine.

Fairy Cakes - One of the things every mum should know is how to make fairy cupcakes for her girls. When making your cupcake base, be sure to fill only half of your baking mold with the batter. After it has thoroughly cooled off, ice the top with a fondant-style glaze. Before it could dry, put a small icing crown at the center. You can also put miniature edible flowers if you want.

These are only five of the many decorated cupcake ideas you can apply. There are many other ways to decorate a cupcake from simple icing sugar sprinkles to the most exotic intricate fondant models. A quick search through the internet will give you a heap more ideas. Good luck and have fun making your cupcakes!

They are not just delicious, but they make the party more memorable for both you and your guests. They are easy to make as well. Below are a couple of simple cupcake recipes that everyone will enjoy.

For Easy Cupcakes, you need to prepare 2 ¼ cups of flour, 1 1/3 cups of sugar, 2 eggs, ½ teaspoon of salt, 3 teaspoons of baking powder, ½ cup of shortening, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 cup of milk. First of all, preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare a dozen of muffin molds and line with cupcake liners. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar salt, and baking powder. Add shortening, vanilla extract and milk. Using a mixer beat the mixture on medium speed for 1 minute. You can use spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl. Add eggs to the mixture and beat it again, maintaining the same speed, for 1 minute. Scrape the sides of the bowl again. Then, beat it for 1 ½ minutes on high until well mixed. Pour the batter carefully into the lined cupcake molds. Only fill 2/3 of each mold. Bake the cupcakes for 20- 25 minutes. Remove them from the heat and let them cool in the molds for 5 minutes. Remove the cupcakes from the molds and place them on a wire rack and let them cool completely. Frost the cupcakes with your favorite frosting recipe and decorate as you desire.

For Cola Cupcakes, you need to prepare two mixtures. For the first mixture, prepare 1 cup of cola, ½ cup of butter, ¼ cup of powdered cocoa, ½ cup of vegetable oil, and 22 marshmallows. For the second mixture, prepare 2 cups of flour, 2 eggs, 2 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 cup of buttermilk. First, preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Then, remove from the heat and add marshmallows. Place lid on the saucepan and leave it until the marshmallows melt. Stir well. Then prepare the second mixture: mix flour, sugar and baking soda in a bowl. Add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla extract, and beat using a mixer. Next, combine the first and second mixtures in the bowl. Pour the batter into the lined cupcake molds until they are 2/3 full. Bake cupcakes for about 20 minutes. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool at room temperature.
